Banana leaf Bungkus

My favourite way of getting food "to go" is in the traditional style, often still used by smaller warungs (vendors)... they use a banana leaf to wrap your food in....




No plastic - yay! I feel that the major problem with plastics garbage in tropical countries is actually due to this tradition... it was fine to simply toss your banana leaf after consuming your food, or whatever was wrapped in it in the past, but with the advent of plastics, and NO socialization/education, people are simply ignorant to the fact that a banana leaf degrades in days whereas a plastic bags takes hundreds of years... so they keep tossin'!
